Introduction
Bordeaux 2007 - Elegant, well balanced reds, fine dry whites and luscious
sweet wines

On the left bank, the Cabernets fared better than the earlier-ripening
Merlot, so many wines have a higher percentage of Cabernet than usual. On the
right bank, Merlot performed better on the warmer soils and achieved fuller
ripeness producing wines with more density.
The cool summer and longer growing season have given slightly lower alcohols
than in the past few years – about half a degree lower (12.5-13 degrees).
Acidity is higher too, so the wines generally have a good, fresh fruit
character. Gentle extraction techniques, which seem to have been applied
universally, have given soft, supple wines that will be approachable earlier
than 2005 and 2006. In conclusion, these are wines for drinking in the medium
term and have been priced accordingly.
